Wise Business setup guide
Multi-currency business account. Agents check balances and activity, look up exchange rates, quote and prepare international payouts to saved recipients, fund them from the balance where Wise allows it, and track transfer status.
Agents read payments, invoices and accounts. Anything that moves money is tier 4: a person always approves it.
Ways to connect
Company admins connect apps, on the Integrations page in Everdeck: open Wise Business, choose one of the ways below, follow its steps and fill in its fields. Everdeck checks what you enter before it saves anything, and asks you to confirm it’s you (your second factor) before you type any secret. How connecting works.
Personal API token
API key.
- Sign in to your Wise Business account at https://wise.com.
- Go to Your Account > Connect and manage apps > API tokens and click Add new token.
- Complete the 2-step verification when asked, then copy the token. Wise shows it only once.
- Paste it into the form. Everdeck looks up your business profile; if you have several, pick the one the agents should use. Funding transfers and balance statements through the API only work for accounts based in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Malaysia. Elsewhere agents can prepare transfers and you fund them in Wise.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Wise environment | Choice: Production, Sandbox. |
| Personal API token | A secret: Everdeck saves it encrypted and never shows it again. Where to find it. |
| Business profile ID (filled in for you) (optional) | Text. |
Disconnecting deletes the credentials Everdeck saved, but Everdeck can't revoke them: the key, token or password itself keeps working at Wise Business until you delete or rotate it there.
What agents can do
An agent uses an action only when its charter grants it, on the agent’s Tools tab, where you choose whether each one runs by itself (Auto), asks first or never runs. Each action has a risk tier: tier 3 actions, which customers or the public see, ask first unless you choose otherwise, and tier 4 actions (money, deleting things, access) always need a person. How tools and tiers work.
Actions marked Reads outside content return things people outside your company may have written. Agents treat what they read as information, never as instructions, and their riskier actions later in the same session need approval.
-
List profilesTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_list_profilesList the personal and business profiles on the account with their ids. Most actions need the business profile id.
-
List balancesTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_list_balancesList the profile's currency balances with available and reserved amounts and balance ids.
-
Get exchange ratesTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_get_ratesGet Wise's current mid-market rate for a currency pair, the rate at a past time, or a history between from and to grouped by day, hour or minute.
-
Get a transfer quoteTier 2 · ReversibleReads outside content
wise_create_quoteLock in a rate and fees for sending money: give sourceAmount or targetAmount, not both. Set the recipient (targetAccount) to get route-accurate fees. A quote is needed to create a transfer and expires (see expirationTime). paymentOptions shows fees and delivery estimates per pay-in method.
-
List recipientsTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_list_recipientsList saved recipient accounts (people and businesses you pay) with id, name, currency and a masked account summary, 20 per page. Filter by currency.
-
Get recipient fields for a routeTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_get_recipient_requirementsFor a quote, list the recipient account types and the fields each needs (for example sort code and account number for GBP, IBAN for EUR, ABA routing for USD), with allowed values. Use it before create_recipient.
-
Add a recipientTier 2 · ReversibleReads outside content
wise_create_recipientSave a new recipient bank account to pay. Fields depend on currency and type; get them with get_recipient_requirements. Check details against a trusted source: changed bank details are a common fraud pattern.
-
Prepare a transferTier 2 · ReversibleReads outside content
wise_create_transferCreate a transfer to a recipient from a quote, with the reference the recipient sees. Nothing is paid until fund_transfer, or until someone funds it in Wise. One transfer per quote, so create a new quote if this one has expired (expirationTime).
-
Pay a transfer from the balanceTier 4 · Money or irreversibleReads outside content
wise_fund_transferPay a prepared transfer from the Wise balance in its source currency; Wise then sends the money. Fails with insufficient funds if the balance is short. Only possible through the API for accounts based in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Malaysia.
-
List transfersTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_list_transfersList transfers for the profile, filtered by status (comma-separated, for example incoming_payment_waiting, processing, funds_converted, outgoing_payment_sent, cancelled, funds_refunded, bounced_back), currencies or creation dates. Page with limit and offset.
-
Read a transferTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_get_transferRead one transfer's status, amounts, rate, recipient and reference.
-
List account activityTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wise_list_activitiesList recent activity on the profile (transfers, incoming money, conversions, card spending, fees) with title, amounts, status (REQUIRES_ATTENTION, IN_PROGRESS, UPCOMING, COMPLETED, CANCELLED) and times, newest first. Page with next_cursor.
What can start work
These events from Wise Business can become tasks for your agents through Intake. How Intake works.
A transfer moved to a new state, for example funds converted, sent or bounced back. (Wise's transfers#state-change webhook needs partner OAuth, so personal-token connections poll.)
Connect Wise Business first. Then, on the Intake page, open Webhooks and sources, find it under Connector triggers and select Start watching. Then, on the Rules tab, select New rule to say which requests become tasks and who gets them.
Money arrived in a balance, for example a customer payment to your account details.

Testing, problems and disconnecting
Everdeck checks the connection when you save it. On the connection’s page in Integrations, Test checks it again at any time.
If Wise Business later refuses the connection, for example because a key was deleted or a sign-in expired, the connection shows Needs attention on the Integrations page and the people who manage connections are told. Agents can’t use it until a company admin fixes it with Edit.
To stop agents using Wise Business, open the connection and select Disconnect. Agents stop using it at once and its saved credentials are deleted. What else happens depends on how it was connected: each way above says.
