Ways to connect

A company admin connects PandaDoc from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

PandaDoc must approve your app or your API access before it can reach your live account. Allow time for that review.

  • API key API key

Copy a key or token from PandaDoc and paste it into Everdeck.

  • Your PandaDoc OAuth app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with PandaDoc, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to PandaDoc and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with PandaDoc

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 9

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Find documents Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List documents in the workspace, newest change first, optionally searching names and reference numbers or filtering by status, tag, template and dates. Returns id, name, status and key dates.

  • Check a document's status Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a document's current status quickly, for example to wait after creating a document until it moves from document.uploaded to document.draft (usually a few seconds) before updating or sending it.

  • Read a document Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a document's details: status, recipients and whether each has completed, field values, variables (tokens), grand total, tags and metadata. Not available while the document is still being created (document.uploaded).

  • Find templates Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List templates in the workspace, optionally searching names or filtering by tag. Returns id and name.

  • Read a template Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a template's roles (in signing order), variables (tokens) and fields with their merge field names. Call this before create_document_from_template to know which roles, variables and fields to fill.

  • Draft a document from a template Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a draft document from a template with recipients for its roles, variable values and pre-filled fields. Nobody is emailed. The document starts as document.uploaded and becomes document.draft a few seconds later; check with get_document_status before updating or sending it.

  • Draft a document from a PDF Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a draft document from a PDF at an HTTPS link anyone can download. Field tags in the PDF text such as {signature:Client} and {date:Client} place fields for the recipient with that role. Nobody is emailed; wait for document.draft (get_document_status) before sending.

  • Update a draft document Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Change a draft document's variable values, field values or metadata before it is sent. Only works in document.draft; sent documents cannot be edited this way.

  • Save the signed PDF Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Download a document as a PDF (the signed, verifiable copy once it is completed), save it to the company's files and return its text.

Asks first 1

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Remind a recipient Tier 3 · External Outside content

Email a recipient a reminder to complete a sent document.

Always asks a person 2

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Send a document Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Send a draft document to its recipients for viewing and signing. PandaDoc emails them right away and the document's content is locked. Quotes commit the company to their prices and invoices or payment fields ask the recipient to pay, so a person approves every send. If the template has an approval workflow, the document waits for approval (document.waiting_approval) and must be sent again once approved.

  • Cancel a sent document Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Mark a sent or viewed document as expired so nobody can complete it any more, with a private note, and by default email the recipients that it changed. Drafts cannot be cancelled this way.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Nothing in PandaDoc starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in E-signature. What an agent does with PandaDoc depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Draft an agreement from a template for a person to check and send.
  • Check which documents are still waiting for signatures and remind signers once you approve.
  • Save the signed copy when everyone has signed.
