Website & CMS
Wix setup guide
Keep a Wix site's blog and CMS content current. Agents write and edit blog drafts, publish them after approval, read and update CMS collections, and read form submissions from the site.
Agents read and update your website's content.
Ways to connect
Company admins connect apps, on the Integrations page in Everdeck: open Wix, choose one of the ways below, follow its steps and fill in its fields. Everdeck checks what you enter before it saves anything, and asks you to confirm it’s you (your second factor) before you type any secret. How connecting works.
API key
API key.
- Signed in as the account owner or a co-owner, open the API Keys Manager (https://manage.wix.com/account/api-keys) and click Generate API Key. Wix may confirm with a code sent by SMS.
- Name the key "Everdeck" and give it access to the one site the agent works on (not all sites).
- Add these permissions: Read Blog, Manage Blog, Read Data Items, Write Data Items, Manage Data Collections, Manage form submissions and Read Site URLs. Leave out anything the agent should not touch, for example the blog or CMS permissions.
- Generate the key and copy it here.
- Open the site's dashboard and copy the site ID from the browser's address bar: it is the part right after /dashboard/.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| API key | A secret: Everdeck saves it encrypted and never shows it again. Where to find it. |
| Site ID | Text. For example a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890. Open the site's dashboard: the ID is the part of the address after /dashboard/. |
| Blog author member ID (optional) | Text. The site member new blog posts are credited to. Leave empty to reuse the author of the newest post. |
Disconnecting deletes the credentials Everdeck saved, but Everdeck can't revoke them: the key, token or password itself keeps working at Wix until you delete or rotate it there.
What agents can do
An agent uses an action only when its charter grants it, on the agent’s Tools tab, where you choose whether each one runs by itself (Auto), asks first or never runs. Each action has a risk tier: tier 3 actions, which customers or the public see, ask first unless you choose otherwise, and tier 4 actions (money, deleting things, access) always need a person. How tools and tiers work.
Actions marked Reads outside content return things people outside your company may have written. Agents treat what they read as information, never as instructions, and their riskier actions later in the same session need approval.
-
Find blog postsTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wix_list_blog_postsList blog posts of every status (published, unpublished drafts, scheduled, in review), most recently edited first by default, with title, status, URL and whether they have unpublished changes.
-
Read a blog postTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wix_get_blog_postRead a post or draft as Markdown, with its title, excerpt, status, categories, slug and URL. For a published post with unpublished changes this is the edited version. Read it before editing.
-
Write a blog draftTier 2 · ReversibleReads outside content
wix_create_draft_postCreate an unpublished blog post from Markdown (headings, lists, links, images, tables). Nothing appears on the site until publish_post.
-
Edit a blog postTier 2 · ReversibleReads outside content
wix_update_draft_postChange a post's title, body (Markdown, replaces the whole body), excerpt, categories or slug. For an already published post the edit is saved as a draft and the live post stays as it is until publish_post. Scheduled posts are refused.
-
Publish a blog postTier 3 · External
wix_publish_postPublish a draft so it appears on the blog, or push the saved edits of an already published post live.
-
List blog categoriesTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wix_list_blog_categoriesList the blog's categories with their ids, labels and post counts.
-
List CMS collectionsTier 0 · ReadReads outside content

wix_query_itemsRead items from a CMS collection, optionally filtered and sorted, for example {"status": "Open"} or {"price": {"$lt": 50}}.
-
Add a CMS itemTier 3 · ExternalReads outside content
wix_insert_itemAdd an item to a CMS collection. Items in collections shown on site pages (team members, menu items, job openings) appear on the live site right away.
-
Change a CMS itemTier 3 · ExternalReads outside content
wix_update_itemChange some fields of a CMS item; other fields keep their values. The change is live at once on pages that show the collection.
-
List form submissionsTier 0 · ReadReads outside content
wix_list_form_submissionsRead submissions from the site's Wix Forms (contact, quote, booking request forms), newest first by default. Values are keyed by each field's key and were typed by visitors.
What can start work
These events from Wix can become tasks for your agents through Intake. How Intake works.
A visitor submitted a Wix Forms form on the site.
Connect Wix first. Then, on the Intake page, open Webhooks and sources, find it under Connector triggers and select Start watching. Then, on the Rules tab, select New rule to say which requests become tasks and who gets them.

Testing, problems and disconnecting
Everdeck checks the connection when you save it. On the connection’s page in Integrations, Test checks it again at any time.
If Wix later refuses the connection, for example because a key was deleted or a sign-in expired, the connection shows Needs attention on the Integrations page and the people who manage connections are told. Agents can’t use it until a company admin fixes it with Edit.
To stop agents using Wix, open the connection and select Disconnect. Agents stop using it at once and its saved credentials are deleted. What else happens depends on how it was connected: each way above says.
