Ways to connect

A company admin connects Google Analytics from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with Google Analytics, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • Google service account Service account

Create a service account or key of your own with Google Analytics and paste it into Everdeck. The connection then works without anyone signing in each time.

  • Your Google OAuth app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with Google Analytics, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Google Analytics and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with Google Analytics

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 10

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • List accounts and properties Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the Google Analytics accounts and GA4 properties these credentials can read, with each property's ID (properties/123456789) and name. Use the number as property_id in other actions.

  • List dimensions and metrics Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the dimension and metric names this property supports, including its custom definitions (customEvent:..., customUser:...). Use the apiName values in run_report.

  • Run a report Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Run a custom report with up to 9 dimensions, 10 metrics and 4 date ranges, optional filters and sorting. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD or relative (today, yesterday, 28daysAgo) in the property's time zone. Each row lists dimensionValues and metricValues in the order requested. Common names: dimensions date, pagePath, landingPage, sessionDefaultChannelGroup, sessionSourceMedium, sessionCampaignName, country, deviceCategory, eventName; metrics activeUsers, newUsers, sessions, engagedSessions, engagementRate, screenPageViews, eventCount, keyEvents, totalRevenue.

  • Traffic overview by day Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Day by day: active users, new users, sessions, engaged sessions, engagement rate, average session duration (seconds), views, key events and total revenue, oldest day first.

  • Top pages Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Pages and screens ranked by views for a date range, with active users, total engagement time (seconds) and key events. Path and title come first in each row.

  • Traffic sources Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Sessions by default channel group and source / medium (for example Organic Search, google / organic) with active users, engaged sessions, engagement rate, key events and revenue, largest first.

  • Real-time activity Tier 0 · Read Outside content

What is happening now: the last 30 minutes (60 on Analytics 360). Default is active users by country and device. Realtime dimensions: unifiedScreenName, country, city, deviceCategory, platform, eventName, minutesAgo, streamName, appVersion. Metrics: activeUsers, eventCount, keyEvents, screenPageViews.

  • List key events Tier 0 · Read Outside content

The events this property counts as key events (formerly called conversions), with the counting method and any default value. Use keyEvents as a metric to count them.

  • List annotations Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Notes on the property's charts (launches, campaigns, outages) with their dates. Use it to explain a jump or drop in traffic.

  • Annotate a date Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Add a note to a date on the property's report charts, for example "Spring sale email sent" or "Checkout outage". Everyone with access to the property sees it.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.

  • Once a day, the last 28 days of traffic by day, so an agent can report trends and flag sudden drops.

Everdeck checks Google Analytics every day.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Analytics & data. What an agent does with Google Analytics depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Write a weekly summary of traffic, sign-ups or other numbers you watch.
  • Answer a question like "which pages brought the most visitors last month?" from your data.

Set it up

The Google Analytics setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
