Ways to connect

A company admin connects Contentful from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

  • Personal access token API key

Copy a key or token from Contentful and paste it into Everdeck.

  • Your Contentful OAuth app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with Contentful, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Contentful and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with Contentful

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 11

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • List content types Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the content types (for example Blog Post, Landing Page, Product) with each field's id, type, whether it is required or localized, and its validations. Read this before writing entries.

  • List locales Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the environment's locales (for example en-US, de-DE) and which one is the default. Every field value is keyed by locale code.

  • Find entries Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Search entries by text, content type or change date, most recently updated first. Returns each entry's id, content type, version numbers and fields in every locale. An entry is a draft when publishedVersion is missing, published when version = publishedVersion + 1, and has unpublished changes when version is higher. Archived entries are left out.

  • Read an entry Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read an entry's fields in every locale, its content type, tags and version number. Read it before updating or publishing it; empty fields are not returned.

  • Draft an entry Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a new entry as a draft; nothing changes on the website until it is published. Field values are keyed by field id and then locale code.

  • Edit an entry Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Change fields of an entry with JSON Patch operations. Saved as a draft change: the published version stays live until the entry is published again. Send the version from get_entry.

  • List comments on an entry Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read the comment thread on an entry (teammates' review notes); each comment's status is active or resolved.

  • Comment on an entry Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Leave a comment on an entry for the editorial team, for example a summary of changes made. At most 512 bytes.

  • Reply to a comment Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Reply in a comment thread on an entry. At most 512 bytes.

  • Find images and files Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Search the media library by text and file type to reuse an existing image in an entry.

  • Add an image or file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Add an image or file to the media library from a public URL or a file in the company's Spaces, with a title and description (used as alt text). It stays unpublished until publish is used.

Asks first 1

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Publish an entry or asset Tier 3 · External

Publish the current version of an entry or asset so the website shows it. Linked entries and assets must be published too, or they will not appear. Send the version from get_entry.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.

  • An entry was created or edited in the environment.

Everdeck checks Contentful every 10 minutes.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Website & CMS. What an agent does with Contentful depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Write a draft post or page for you to review and publish.
  • Read your published pages to check facts before answering a customer.

Set it up

The Contentful setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
