Ways to connect

A company admin connects Facebook Pages from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with Facebook Pages, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • System user access token Token

Copy a key or token from Facebook Pages and paste it into Everdeck.

  • Your Meta app (Facebook Login for Business) Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with Facebook Pages, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Facebook Pages and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with Facebook Pages

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 6

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • List Page posts Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List recent posts on the Page feed (the Page's own posts plus visitor posts and posts it is tagged in), with author, permalink and reaction, comment and share counts.

  • List comments Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List comments on a post, or replies to a comment, with the commenter, text, time, like and reply counts and whether the comment is hidden.

  • Get Page insights Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Page metrics per day, week or 28 days: views of the Page's content, unique viewers, post engagements, new follows and Page visits.

  • Get post insights Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Lifetime views, unique viewers, clicks and reactions by type for one Page post.

  • List Messenger conversations Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the Page's Messenger conversations with their last update time and the participants. The participant who is not the Page is the person to reply to.

  • Read a Messenger conversation Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read the most recent messages (up to 20) in a Messenger conversation, with sender and time.

Asks first 5

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Publish a post Tier 3 · External

Publish a text post on the Page now, optionally with a link (Facebook builds the link preview).

  • Publish a photo Tier 3 · External

Publish a photo post on the Page from a public image URL, with an optional caption.

  • Comment or reply Tier 3 · External

Comment on a post, or reply to a comment, as the Page.

  • Hide or unhide a comment Tier 3 · External

Hide a comment on a Page post from everyone except its author and their friends, or unhide it. Prefer this to deleting.

  • Send a Messenger reply Tier 3 · External

Reply to a person in Messenger as the Page. Only works within 24 hours of their last message to the Page.

Always asks a person 1

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Delete a post Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Permanently delete a Page post (or photo) by ID.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Nothing in Facebook Pages starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Social & ads. What an agent does with Facebook Pages depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Read new comments and messages and draft replies for you to approve.
  • Report each week on how your posts and pages performed.
