Ways to connect

A company admin connects Google Calendar from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with Google Calendar, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • Your Google OAuth client Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with Google Calendar, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Google Calendar and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

  • Google Workspace service account (domain-wide delegation) Service account

Create a service account or key of your own with Google Calendar and paste it into Everdeck. The connection then works without anyone signing in each time.

What agents can do with Google Calendar

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 5

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • List calendars Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the calendars this account can see, with each calendar's id, name, time zone and your access role. Use the id with the other calendar tools; "primary" always means the account's main calendar.

  • Find events Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List events on a calendar that end after time_min (and start before time_max), soonest first, with recurring events expanded into single occurrences. Add query to search titles, descriptions, locations and guest names or emails. Returns each event's id, title, start, end, status, location, organizer, guests with their replies, and the Meet link.

  • Read an event Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read one event with its description, guests and their replies, conference links and recurrence rules.

  • Check availability Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Return the busy time ranges of one or more calendars or people between two times. Use it before proposing or booking a meeting time. A calendar you are not allowed to see comes back with an error for that calendar instead of busy times.

  • Add a private event Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Add an event without guests, such as a focus block, a reminder or a hold. Nobody is invited or emailed. To invite people use create_meeting.

Asks first 3

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Schedule a meeting Tier 3 · External Outside content

Create an event with guests and email them the invitation, with a Google Meet link unless add_meet_link is false. Check availability with find_free_busy first.

  • Update an event Tier 3 · External Outside content

Change an event's title, description, location, time or guest list; send only the fields to change. Guests are emailed about the change. attendees replaces the whole guest list, so read the event first and include everyone who should stay invited.

  • Reply to an invitation Tier 3 · External Outside content

Accept, decline or tentatively accept an event you were invited to, with an optional note. The organizer sees your reply.

Always asks a person 1

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Delete an event Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Delete an event. If you organized it and it has guests, they are emailed that it was cancelled.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Nothing in Google Calendar starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Calendar & scheduling. What an agent does with Google Calendar depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Find open times and suggest meeting slots to someone who asked for a call.
  • Read tomorrow's meetings and write a short brief for each one.
