Ways to connect
A company admin connects Outlook Mail from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.
Every way in uses an app you create with Outlook Mail, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

Your Microsoft Entra app registration Your OAuth app
Create an OAuth app of your own with Outlook Mail, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Outlook Mail and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.
What agents can do with Outlook Mail
An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.
Runs on its own 9
Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

List email in a folder Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Newest first. folder is a well-known name (inbox, archive, sentitems, drafts, deleteditems, junkemail) or a folder id from list_mail_folders. Optional OData filter; when filtering, put receivedDateTime first, for example "receivedDateTime ge 2026-10-01T00:00:00Z and isRead eq false".
-
Search email Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Search the whole mailbox with KQL, for example from:alex subject:invoice, or participants:ana hasAttachments:true. Up to 1,000 results, newest first. Write the query without double quotes; the connector adds them.
-
Read an email Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read one message with its plain-text body, recipients, categories, flag and attachment list (id, name, type, size).
-
Download an attachment Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Save a file attachment to the company's files and return the file reference.
-
List mail folders Tier 0 · Read Outside content
List top-level mail folders with ids and unread counts.
-
Draft an email Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Save a new draft in Drafts for a person to review and send. Returns the draft id and webLink.
-
Draft a reply Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Save a reply (or reply-all) draft in the thread for a person to review and send.
-
Mark, flag or categorize an email Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Change read state, categories, flag or importance, for example {"isRead": true} or {"flag": {"flagStatus": "flagged"}, "categories": ["Invoices"]}.
-
Move or archive an email Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Move a message to a folder: archive, inbox, junkemail, or a folder id from list_mail_folders. Deleting email (moving it to Deleted Items) is not part of this connector. The moved message gets a new id, returned in the result.
Asks first 3
Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.
-
Send an email Tier 3 · External Outside content
Send a new email and save it to Sent Items. Recipients are objects like {"emailAddress": {"address": "[email protected]", "name": "Ana"}}.
-
Reply to an email Tier 3 · External Outside content
Reply in the same conversation and save to Sent Items. reply answers the sender (or Reply-To); replyAll also copies everyone on the original.
-
Forward an email Tier 3 · External Outside content
Forward a message with a short note to one or more recipients.
Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.
What can start work
Nothing in Outlook Mail starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.
Work an agent can take on
Examples for apps in Communication. What an agent does with Outlook Mail depends on the actions you grant it.
- Read new messages, sort out what needs a reply and draft the answers for you to check.
- Post a short summary of the day's finished tasks where your team will see it.
- Send a customer a follow-up once you've approved the wording.
