SendGrid
Twilio SendGrid email delivery and marketing. Agents send emails from HTML or dynamic templates, check why an address bounced or was suppressed, read delivery statistics, manage marketing contacts and lists, and draft, schedule and report on Single Send campaigns.

Ways to connect
A company admin connects SendGrid from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

API key API key
Copy a key or token from SendGrid and paste it into Everdeck.
What agents can do with SendGrid
An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.
Runs on its own 9
Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.
-
List email templates Tier 0 · Read Outside content
List dynamic email templates with their ids, version names and subjects, for use with send_email.
-
Read email statistics Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Account-wide email statistics per day, week or month: requests, delivered, opens, clicks, bounces, blocks, spam reports and unsubscribes.
-
Check why an address gets no email Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Check one email address against SendGrid's bounce, block, spam report, invalid email and unsubscribe lists, including unsubscribe groups. Use it when someone says they did not receive an email.
-
Find marketing contacts Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Look up Marketing Campaigns contacts by exact email address (up to 100 at once), with their names, list ids, custom fields and dates.
-
Create or update contacts Tier 2 · Reversible
Create or update Marketing Campaigns contacts, matched by email. Fields not sent stay as they are. Processing is asynchronous: the reply is a job id, and changes can take a few minutes to show. Does not add anyone to a list.
-
List marketing lists Tier 0 · Read Outside content
List Marketing Campaigns contact lists with their ids and contact counts.
-
List Single Sends Tier 0 · Read Outside content
List marketing email campaigns (Single Sends) with their ids, status (draft, scheduled or triggered) and send time.
-
Draft a Single Send Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Create a draft marketing email for lists, segments or all contacts, with subject and HTML. Before it can be scheduled it needs a sender_id and either a suppression_group_id or a custom_unsubscribe_url. Nothing is sent until schedule_single_send.
-
Read Single Send results Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Totals for a sent Single Send: requests, delivered, unique opens and clicks, bounces, spam reports and unsubscribes, combined across any A/B variations (ab_variation "all").
Asks first 3
Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.
-
Send an email Tier 3 · External Outside content
Send an email to one or more recipients, from HTML you write (content) or from a dynamic template (template_id plus template_data). The from address must be a verified sender or on an authenticated domain.
-
Add contacts to lists Tier 3 · External
Add contacts (created if new) to one or more marketing lists. People on a list receive the Single Sends and automations aimed at it, so only add those who agreed to hear from you.
-
Send or schedule a Single Send Tier 3 · External
Send a ready Single Send now (send_at "now") or schedule it for a future time. It goes to everyone it targets.
Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.
What can start work
Nothing in SendGrid starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.
Work an agent can take on
Examples for apps in Marketing & forms. What an agent does with SendGrid depends on the actions you grant it.
- Add new sign-ups to the right list with the right tags.
- Draft an email campaign for you to review before anything is sent.
- Report how last month's campaigns performed.
Set it up
The SendGrid setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in.
