Ways to connect

A company admin connects ActiveCampaign from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

  • API URL and key API key

Copy a key or token from ActiveCampaign and paste it into Everdeck.

What agents can do with ActiveCampaign

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 10

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Find contacts Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Find contacts by email, name, phone or account name, or list contacts on a list, with a tag, or changed since a date. Most recently updated first.

  • Read a contact Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read one contact with their custom field values, list subscriptions, automations and deals.

  • Create or update a contact Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a contact or update the one with this email. Only the fields sent change. Does not subscribe them to any list; use update_list_subscription for that.

  • Tag a contact Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Apply tags to a contact by name; tags that do not exist yet are created. Automations that start on a tag being added will run.

  • Add a note Tier 2 · Reversible

Add an internal note to a contact or a deal. Notes are only visible to your team.

  • List lists Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the account's email lists with ids and active subscriber counts. Filter by name.

  • List automations Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List automations with their ids, status and how many contacts entered and exited them.

  • List campaigns and results Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List email campaigns, latest send first, with status and results: sends, unique opens, unique link clicks, unsubscribes, bounces and replies.

  • Find deals Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Find deals by title, pipeline, stage, status or owner, or changed since a date. Returns value (in cents), currency, stage, owner and primary contact.

  • Update a deal Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Change a deal's stage, status (won or lost), value, owner, title or description. Send only the fields to change.

Asks first 2

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Subscribe or unsubscribe from a list Tier 3 · External Outside content

Subscribe a contact to a list (status "1") or unsubscribe them (status "2"). Subscribing someone who earlier unsubscribed re-subscribes them, so only do it when they asked to be added. List-subscription automations may email them.

  • Add a contact to an automation Tier 3 · External Outside content

Enrol a contact in an automation (for example a nurture or onboarding sequence). The automation then sends whatever emails and steps it contains.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Nothing in ActiveCampaign starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Marketing & forms. What an agent does with ActiveCampaign depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Add new sign-ups to the right list with the right tags.
  • Draft an email campaign for you to review before anything is sent.
  • Report how last month's campaigns performed.
