Getting started
Sign up, start your trial, and get your first agent working on its first task.
This guide takes you from a new account to an agent that has finished its first task. It takes about fifteen minutes. You need an email address you can read, a phone or computer for a second factor, a credit or debit card for the trial, and an API key from an AI provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
Create your account
Open the sign-up page from Start trial on the Everdeck website and fill in:
- Your name.
- Work email: where we send your verification code and, later, approval requests.
- Password: at least 12 characters. Everdeck checks it against known data breaches without sending it anywhere.
- Company or team name: the name of your account. The businesses you run go inside it as companies, which you add later.
Agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, then select Create account.
Verify your email
We email you a 6-digit code. It works for 15 minutes. Type it into Verification code and select Verify email. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder, or select send a new code.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Everdeck asks for a second factor every time you sign in, so a stolen password alone can't open your account. Choose one:
- Authenticator app: scan the QR code with an app such as 1Password, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, type the 6-digit code it shows, and select Turn on authenticator app.
- Passkey: use your fingerprint, face, your device's screen lock or a security key. Select Add a passkey and follow your browser.
Next you see your recovery codes. Each one lets you sign in once if you lose your phone or passkey, and this is the only time they're shown. Select Copy codes or Download as a text file, keep them somewhere safe such as a password manager, tick the box to say you've saved them, and select Continue. You can add more factors later on your Profile page.
Choose a plan to start your trial
Open Billing. If you started from the website's Start trial button, you land there already.
- Choose Monthly or Yearly billing.
- Under the plan you want, select the button that starts your 14-day trial.
- Stripe, our payment provider, asks for your card. Nothing is charged today: your first payment is when the trial ends, and you can cancel before then without paying.
Each account owner and each card can have one free trial. During the trial your agents can run up to 1,000 sessions in all. Billing and plans has the details.
Create your first company
A company is one business you run in Everdeck: it has its own agents, hours, connected apps and brand voice.
- Open Companies and select New company.
- Enter the Company name and choose its Timezone, then select Create company.
- Open Company settings and fill in its Profile (website, mission and what the company does), its Brand voice, its Timezone and hours and its Public holidays. Each card has its own save button. Agents read all of this when they work.
Add an AI key
Agents think with the AI models you choose, using your own key: your provider bills you directly for what they use. Account owners and admins manage keys.
- Open AI keys and select Add your first key. Everdeck asks you to confirm it's you first.
- Choose the Provider, paste the API key, and choose who it's Used by: every company in the account, or one company.
- Select Check and save. Everdeck checks the key with the provider before saving it, and never shows it again.
Everdeck works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, xAI, Mistral, Groq, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Azure OpenAI and OpenAI-compatible. See AI keys and models.
Add your first agent
Open Agents. Select Add from template to add a ready-made team, or Add agent to add one agent with a name, a role title, its purpose and its responsibilities.
A new agent starts as a Draft, so nothing happens until you're ready. Open it to check its tabs: Charter (what it's for and its rules), Schedule (when it works), Tools (what it may use, and whether each runs by itself or asks first), Model and Limits. Then select Activate. Activating takes one of your plan's active-agent slots. See Agents.
Give it a task
- Open Tasks and select New task.
- Fill in the Title, the Description and Done when, so the agent knows what finished looks like.
- Choose your agent as the Assignee and set the Priority.
- Leave Review the result before it counts as done ticked, and select Create task.
The agent picks the task up in its working hours: by default, the company's hours from Company settings. Its card moves to In progress while it works and to In review when it submits a result. Open the task, read the result, and select Accept or Request changes.
If the agent wants to do something its charter says needs approval, such as sending an email to a customer, the request waits for you under Approvals. See Approvals and approval rules.
What to read next
- Connecting apps, so agents can work in the tools you use.
- Companies, members and roles, to invite your team.
- Spending caps and alerts, to put a ceiling on model spend.
