Ways to connect

A company admin connects Trello from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with Trello, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • API key and token API key

Copy a key or token from Trello and paste it into Everdeck.

  • Your Trello OAuth 2.0 app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with Trello, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Trello and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with Trello

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 12

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Search cards Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Search cards by text across your boards (or the boards you list), with each card's board and list. Trello search syntax works, for example "is:open due:week".

  • List boards Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the open boards this member belongs to.

  • List a board's lists Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the open lists (columns) on a board, in order. Use a list id to create or move cards.

  • List a board's cards Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the open cards on a board with their list, due date, members and labels.

  • Read a card Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read one card: name, description, list, dates, members, labels, checklists and its latest comments.

  • Read board activity Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read recent activity on a board: cards created, changed and moved, and comments, newest first. Use since to see only what happened after a time.

  • List board members Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the members of a board with their ids, for assigning cards.

  • List board labels Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the labels defined on a board with their ids and colors.

  • Create a card Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a card in a list, optionally with a description, due date, members and labels.

  • Update or move a card Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Change a card: move it to another list (list_id), rename it, change the description, due date or members, mark the due date complete, or archive it (closed true; reversible). Only the fields you give change.

  • Add a member to a card Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Add a board member to a card (Trello's way of assigning work). They are notified.

  • Comment on a card Tier 2 · Reversible

Add a comment to a card. Everyone who can see the board sees it (on a public board, that is anyone with the link).

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.

  • A card on a watched board was created, changed, moved or commented on.

Trello sends it to the address the Intake page gives you, as it happens.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Projects & tasks. What an agent does with Trello depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Turn a request that arrived by email or chat into a task with the right project and due date.
  • Comment on the work items it handles and move them along your workflow.
  • List overdue work every morning for the person who owns it.

Set it up

The Trello setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
