Ways to connect
A company admin connects Shopify from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.
Every way in uses an app you create with Shopify, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.
-
Your Dev Dashboard app (client ID and secret) Your OAuth app
Create an app of your own with Shopify and paste its credentials into Everdeck. The connection then works without anyone signing in.
-
Admin API access token (custom app created in the Shopify admin before 2026) API key
Copy a key or token from Shopify and paste it into Everdeck.
What agents can do with Shopify
An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.
Runs on its own 6
Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.
-
Search orders Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Find orders with Shopify search syntax, newest first by default. Returns id, order name (#1001), dates, financial and fulfillment status, total, email, customer and tags. Without the read_all_orders scope only orders from the last 60 days are visible.
-
Read an order Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read one order with its customer (orders count, total spent, tags), shipping address, line items, open fulfillment orders (ids needed by create_fulfillment), shipments with tracking, refunds and payment transactions.
-
Search products Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Find products with Shopify search syntax. Returns id, title, handle, status, vendor, type, tags, total stock, store URL and up to 10 variants with SKU, price, compare-at price, stock and inventory item id.
-
Read a product and its stock by location Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read one product with its description, SEO fields and up to 50 variants, each with price and the available and on-hand quantity at up to 3 locations (location ids are needed by adjust_inventory).
-
Update an order's note, tags, contact or shipping address Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Change an order's staff note, tags, email, phone or shipping address. Only the fields you pass change. tags replaces the whole tag list, so read the current tags with get_order first. Nothing is sent to the customer.
-
Adjust available stock Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Add to or take from the available quantity of one variant at one location, with a reason. Get the inventory item id and location id (and the current available quantity) from get_product.
Asks first 2
Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.
-
Mark items shipped with tracking Tier 3 · External Outside content
Fulfil a fulfillment order (all remaining items, or the line items you list) with carrier and tracking details. With notify_customer true Shopify emails the customer a shipping confirmation.
-
Update product details Tier 3 · External Outside content
Change a product's title, description (HTML), tags, status, vendor, type or SEO title and description. Only the fields you pass change; tags replaces the whole list. Changes show on the storefront at once.
Always asks a person 4
Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.
-
Change variant prices Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content
Set the price and/or compare-at price of one or more variants of a product. Prices change on the storefront immediately.
-
Create a discount code Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content
Create an order discount code (percentage or fixed amount off all items) that every customer can use, optionally once per customer, with a usage limit and end date.
-
Cancel an order Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content
Cancel an order, optionally refunding it to the original payment methods, restocking items and emailing the customer. Cannot be undone. Runs as a background job; check the order afterwards.
-
Refund an order Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content
Refund some or all line items and/or shipping to the original payment method, restocking returned items, with an optional note and customer email. Shopify works out the amounts.
Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

Work an agent can take on
Examples for apps in E-commerce & marketplaces. What an agent does with Shopify depends on the actions you grant it.
- Look up an order's status and tracking when a customer asks.
- Flag products that are low on stock.
- Add tracking details once an order ships, after you approve it.
Set it up
The Shopify setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
