Ways to connect

A company admin connects eBay from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with eBay, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • Your eBay developer keyset (OAuth) Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with eBay, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to eBay and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with eBay

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 7

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Search orders Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List orders by creation or last-modified time and/or fulfillment status, or fetch up to 50 orders by id. Without a filter eBay returns orders from the last 90 days; orders older than two years are not available. Returns order id, dates, fulfillment and payment status, buyer username, total and items.

  • Read an order Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read one order: buyer, checkout notes, line items (ids for shipping and refunds), price summary, shipping address and service, ship-by dates, payments, refunds and cancellation requests.

  • List buyer messages Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List message conversations with other eBay members (buyers asking about listings or orders) or from eBay, newest first, with the latest message and unread count.

  • Read a conversation Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read the messages in one conversation, oldest first by page.

  • Mark a conversation read or archive it Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Mark a conversation read or unread, or move it to ACTIVE or ARCHIVE. Changes only the seller's inbox.

  • List inventory items Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List inventory items (SKUs) created or migrated through eBay's Inventory API with title, condition and ship-to-home quantity. Listings created only in Seller Hub or the Trading API don't appear.

  • Read a SKU's offers (price and listing) Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read the offers for one SKU: offer id, marketplace, format, status, price, available quantity and the live listing id and status. The offer id is needed by update_price_quantity.

Asks first 2

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Mark items shipped with tracking Tier 3 · External Outside content

Create a shipping fulfillment for one package: the line items in it, carrier code and tracking number. eBay marks them shipped and shows the tracking to the buyer.

  • Message a buyer Tier 3 · External Outside content

Reply in an existing conversation, or start one with an eBay member (for example the buyer of an order), optionally about a listing. Plain text up to 2,000 characters.

Always asks a person 2

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Refund an order Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Refund all or part of an order, or specific line items, back to the buyer's payment method with a reason. Refunds are processed asynchronously; read the order afterwards for the refund status.

  • Change price or quantity of a listing Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Change the price and/or available quantity of published offers of one SKU (Inventory API listings only), and optionally its total ship-to-home quantity. The live listing is revised at once; eBay allows 250 revisions per listing per day.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Nothing in eBay starts agent work by itself. Agents use it while they work on tasks from the board, from other agents or from the sources on the Intake page.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in E-commerce & marketplaces. What an agent does with eBay depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Look up an order's status and tracking when a customer asks.
  • Flag products that are low on stock.
  • Add tracking details once an order ships, after you approve it.
