Ways to connect
A company admin connects Google Drive from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.
Every way in uses an app you create with Google Drive, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.
-
Your Google OAuth app Your OAuth app
Create an OAuth app of your own with Google Drive, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Google Drive and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.
-
Google service account Service account
Create a service account or key of your own with Google Drive and paste it into Everdeck. The connection then works without anyone signing in each time.
What agents can do with Google Drive
An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.
Runs on its own 10
Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.
-
Search files Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Find files and folders with a Drive query across My Drive and shared drives. Returns id, name, type, last change, link and owner.
-
List a folder Tier 0 · Read Outside content
List the files and subfolders inside a folder. Use folder_id root for the top of My Drive.
-
Get file details Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read a file's details, including its folder, owners, last editor and who it is shared with.
-
Read a file Tier 0 · Read Outside content

-
Create a folder Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Create a folder inside another folder (root for the top of My Drive).
-
Upload or create a file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Create a file from text you write (or a file in the company's Spaces) in a folder. Set convert_to to document to turn Markdown or HTML into a Google Doc, or to spreadsheet to turn CSV into a Google Sheet.
-
Copy a file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Copy a file (for example a template) into a folder under a new name.
-
List comments Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read the comment threads on a file, with replies and whether each is resolved.
-
Comment on a file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Add a comment to a file. It appears in the file's comment panel for everyone with access.
-
Reply to a comment Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Reply to a comment thread on a file.
Asks first 1
Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.
-
Move a file Tier 3 · External Outside content
Move a file to another folder. Needs approval by default because the file takes on the sharing of its new folder, which can expose it to more people.
Always asks a person 1
Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.
-
Share a file Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content
Give a person access to a file or folder as reader, commenter or writer, and email them a link.
Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.
What can start work
Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.
-
A file the connected account can see was created or edited.
Everdeck checks Google Drive every 5 minutes.
-
A new file appeared in a folder the company chooses (for example an Invoices inbox folder).
Everdeck checks Google Drive every 5 minutes.
Work an agent can take on
Examples for apps in Docs & files. What an agent does with Google Drive depends on the actions you grant it.
- Search your files for the latest price list or contract before answering a question.
- Keep a running report in a document or spreadsheet up to date.
- Comment on a draft with suggested changes for its author.
Set it up
The Google Drive setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
Google Drive is a separate service with its own terms. Everdeck isn't affiliated with or endorsed by it.
