Ways to connect
A company admin connects Notion from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.
-
Internal connection token API key
Copy a key or token from Notion and paste it into Everdeck.
-
Personal access token API key
Copy a key or token from Notion and paste it into Everdeck.
-
Your Notion public connection Your OAuth app
Create an OAuth app of your own with Notion, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to Notion and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.
What agents can do with Notion
An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.
Runs on its own 12
Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.
-
Search pages and databases Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Search the titles of pages or data sources (database tables) the connection can see, newest edits first. Data source results include their property schema.
-
Read a page Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read a page's content as Markdown (Notion-flavored), including headings, lists, tables and to-dos.
-
Get a database Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read a database's title and the ids of its data sources (tables). Query a data source to read its rows.
-
Query database rows Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read rows from a data source, optionally filtered and sorted with Notion filter objects, for example {"property": "Status", "status": {"equals": "In progress"}}.
-
Create a page Tier 2 · Reversible
Create a page under another page from Markdown. The first "# " heading becomes the title. Returns the new page's id and link.
-
Add a database row Tier 2 · Reversible
Add a row (page) to a data source with property values in Notion's format, for example {"Name": {"title": [{"text": {"content": "Call Acme"}}]}, "Status": {"status": {"name": "To do"}}}.
-
Update row properties Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content
Change property values on a page or database row, such as status, owner, dates or tags.
-
Add to a page Tier 2 · Reversible
Append Markdown content to the end of a page.
-
Edit page text Tier 2 · Reversible
Replace an exact passage of a page's Markdown with new Markdown. Fails if the passage is not found, or matches more than once unless replace_all is true. Will not delete child pages.
-
List comments Tier 0 · Read Outside content
Read the open (unresolved) comments on a page or block, grouped by discussion thread.
-
Comment on a page Tier 2 · Reversible
Start a new comment thread on a page.
-
Reply to a comment Tier 2 · Reversible
Reply in an existing comment thread, using the discussion_id from list_comments.
Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.
What can start work
Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.
-
A page or database row the connection can see was created, edited or had its properties changed.
Notion sends it to the address the Intake page gives you, as it happens.
-
Someone commented on a page the connection can see.

Work an agent can take on
Examples for apps in Docs & files. What an agent does with Notion depends on the actions you grant it.
- Search your files for the latest price list or contract before answering a question.
- Keep a running report in a document or spreadsheet up to date.
- Comment on a draft with suggested changes for its author.
Set it up
The Notion setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
Notion is a separate service with its own terms. Everdeck isn't affiliated with or endorsed by it.
