Ways to connect

A company admin connects SharePoint from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with SharePoint, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • Your Microsoft Entra app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with SharePoint, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to SharePoint and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with SharePoint

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 10

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Search SharePoint Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Search documents, pages and list items across the SharePoint sites and OneDrive files the user can access. Returns names, links, summaries and the ids needed to open each hit.

  • Find sites Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Find SharePoint sites by name. Returns each site's id, which other actions need.

  • List document libraries Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List a site's document libraries (drives) with their ids.

  • List a folder Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the files and folders in a library folder. Use folder_id root for the top of the library.

  • Read a document Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a document's text. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and text files are converted to text.

  • Upload or create a document Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a file in a library folder from text you write or from a file in the company's Spaces (up to 10 MB). An existing file with the same name is kept and the new one is renamed.

  • List lists Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List a site's lists (for example Issues, Contacts or a custom tracker) with their ids.

  • Read list items Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read items from a list with their column values. Filter with OData on columns, for example fields/Status eq 'Open' (works best on indexed columns).

  • Add a list item Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Add an item to a list with column values keyed by the columns' internal names, for example {"Title": "Order 1042 delayed", "Status": "Open"}.

  • Update a list item Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Change column values on a list item; only the columns you send are changed.

Always asks a person 1

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Create a sharing link Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Create a view or edit link to a document or folder. organization links work for anyone in the company; anonymous links work for anyone who has them (if the admin allows them).

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.

  • An item in a chosen list was added, changed or deleted (checked every 5 minutes).

Everdeck checks SharePoint every 5 minutes.

  • A document in a chosen library was added, changed or deleted (checked every 5 minutes).

Everdeck checks SharePoint every 5 minutes.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Docs & files. What an agent does with SharePoint depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Search your files for the latest price list or contract before answering a question.
  • Keep a running report in a document or spreadsheet up to date.
  • Comment on a draft with suggested changes for its author.

Set it up

The SharePoint setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
