Ways to connect

A company admin connects OneDrive from the Integrations page in Everdeck. Keys, tokens and secrets are encrypted before they're stored, and the connection's Test button checks it works before any agent uses it.

Every way in uses an app you create with OneDrive, so access stays under your control. The setup guide walks you through it.

  • Your Microsoft Entra app Your OAuth app

Create an OAuth app of your own with OneDrive, paste its client ID and secret into Everdeck, then sign in to OneDrive and approve access. Access runs through your own app, never one Everdeck shares with other customers.

What agents can do with OneDrive

An agent can only use the actions its charter grants. Each action has a risk tier, and the tier decides whether it runs on its own, asks first or always asks a person.

Runs on its own 8

Looking things up, writing to Everdeck's own records and changes one step can undo. Once an agent's charter grants one of these, it runs without asking, unless you set it to Ask first in the charter or one of your approval rules covers it.

  • Search files Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Search file names, metadata and contents in the user's OneDrive, including items others shared with them. Shared items carry a remoteItem with their own driveId and id.

  • List a folder Tier 0 · Read Outside content

List the files and subfolders in a folder. Use folder_id root for the top of the drive.

  • Get file details Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a file or folder's details, including its location, size and who created and last changed it.

  • Read a file Tier 0 · Read Outside content

Read a file's text. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and text files are converted to text.

  • Upload or create a file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a file in a folder from text you write or from a file in the company's Spaces (up to 10 MB). An existing file with the same name is kept and the new one is renamed.

  • Create a folder Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Create a folder inside another folder (root for the top of the drive).

  • Rename a file or folder Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Give a file or folder a new name in the same place.

  • Copy a file Tier 2 · Reversible Outside content

Copy a file or folder (for example a template) into a folder under a new name. The copy finishes in the background.

Asks first 1

Anything a customer or the public sees. By default a charter grants these as Ask first: the agent sends an approval request and waits for a yes. A company admin can switch one to Auto in the charter after confirming with their second factor. Even then, once an agent has read outside content, such as a customer's email, its tier 3 and 4 actions need a person by default for the rest of that session.

  • Move a file or folder Tier 3 · External Outside content

Move an item to another folder in the same drive. Needs approval by default because items take on the sharing of their new folder.

Always asks a person 2

Payments, deletions, permission changes and anything that can't be undone. A person approves every use, and no charter or approval rule can switch that off.

  • Create a sharing link Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Create a view or edit link to a file or folder. anonymous links work for anyone who has them; organization links only for people in the same work or school organization.

  • Share with a person Tier 4 · Money or irreversible Outside content

Give a person read or write access to a file or folder and send them an invitation email.

Actions marked Outside content return what people outside your company may have written, such as emails or comments. Agents treat it as information to check, never as instructions.

What can start work

Set a trigger up on the Intake page, and your rules there turn what arrives into tasks for your agents.

  • A file in the user's OneDrive was added, changed or deleted (checked every 5 minutes).

Everdeck checks OneDrive every 5 minutes.

Work an agent can take on

Examples for apps in Docs & files. What an agent does with OneDrive depends on the actions you grant it.

  • Search your files for the latest price list or contract before answering a question.
  • Keep a running report in a document or spreadsheet up to date.
  • Comment on a draft with suggested changes for its author.

Set it up

The OneDrive setup guide walks through each way to connect: what to set up first and the fields to fill in, then how to start work from its triggers on the Intake page.
